Description of the genus

Suffrutescent twining lianas with greyish hairs. Leaves simple, broadly elliptic. Flowers either small in condensed axillary cymes or solitary in the axillar. Fruit a drupe, slightly wrinkled. Seed without endosperm, cotyledons very thick.

Worldwide: 19 species in tropical and warm regions of Africa and SE Asia
