Description:
Straggling shrub or tree up to 12 m with drooping sub-quadrangular branches. Leaves opposite, broadly ovate, 4.5–10 cm long, leathery, hairless, minutely glandular-punctate beneath; margin shortly serrate-crenate; petiole 4–12 mm long. Flowers in clusters on the older leafless branches and trunk on pedicels 10–14 mm long with pair of bracteoles below the middle. Corolla orange-yellow to brownish-red, 25–33 mm long, tube curved, widening above to 6–10 mm, unequally 4-lobed. Stamens long exserted. Style 20–38 mm long. Fruit an ovoid to subglobose berry, 12–18 mm long, blackish-purple when ripe.
