Description:
Perennial herb with stems up to 1 m. The leaves are partly in a basal rosette, 2-pinnate with the ultimate leaflets deeply, irregularly toothed, hairy. Flowers yellow, c. 20 mm in diameter, on a long, branched, mostly leafless, hollow flowering stem.

Derivation of specific name: multifidus: with many branches
Habitat: In wet grassland and on river banks and vlei margins.

Worldwide distribution: Widespread in tropical and South Africa, Madagascar and Arabia.
