Description:
Variable annual herb, twining or prostrate. Stems with both long and short hairs. Leaves ovate-cordate to linear-oblong. Inflorescences axillary, few-flowered. Flowers small (c. 1 cm), white, mauve or pink. Capsule ovoid-spherical, hairy.

Derivation of specific name: eriocarpa: with hairy fruits
Habitat: In dry, deciduous woodland, grassland and cultivated areas, usually on alluvial and sandy soils.
Altitude range: Up to 1530 m

Worldwide distribution: Widespread in Africa, Madagascar, tropical Asia and northern Australia.
