Description:
Erect annual herb, up to c. 1 m tall, unbranched or branched from near the base. Stems densely covered in appressed hairs. Leaves opposite, sessile or shortly petiolate, ovate to oblong-lanceolate, 3-12 cm long, usually broader lower on the stems, densely hairy on both surfaces; margin sparsely crenate-dentate, mainly in the upper half. Flowers in 1-3 many-flowered, spherical clusters (verticils). Bracteoles numerous, filiform, up to 1 cm long, densely hairy, spine-tipped. Calyx, whitish with green ribs, usually 5-toothed. Corolla white to very pale mauve.
