Description:
Shrub or small soft-wooded, tree, often much branched, to 7 m. Branchlets with very conspicuous pale leaf scars. Leaves crowded at ends of the branches; petiole to 2 cm; lamina 12-20(-40) × 4-8 cm, simple, oblong-elliptic, glabrous above, sparsely pubescent beneath; margin serrate. Inflorescence a large branched dense terminal panicle. Flowers yellow, unpleasantly scented in c.6-flowered capitula.

Notes:
Derivation of specific name: mannii: after Gustav Mann (1836-1916), British colonial representative in the Gulf of Guinea, who collected plants in that area.
Habitat: Margins of evergreen forest and on rocky hillsides, in higher rainfall areas.
Altitude range: 1200 - 2200 m
Flowering time:Sep - Oct
Worldwide distribution: Widespread in tropical Africa from Nigeria to Ethiopia and South to Angola and Mozambique.
