Description:
Terrestrial herb, usually 40 to 60 cm. Leaves on the lower flowering stem. Inflorescence fairly densely many-flowered. Flowers yellow-green; bracts reflexed. Lip forming a hood with a narrow mouth; sepals and petals curled under; spurs 8 - 20mm long. This species can be distinguished from the similar S. flavum by the somewhat larger size and the basal leaves not being pressed to the ground.
