Description:
|
Perennial creeper or twining climber, with long slender stems from a woody rootstock. Leaves ovate-oblong to triangular, sometimes 3-lobed, deeply cordate at the base, 2-20 cm long, hairless to slightly velvety, 3-7- veined from the base. Flowers in axillary, elongated racemes 2-12- flowered with conspicuous leaf-like ovate bracts up to 4 cm long. Perianth tube c. 20 mm long, greyish to purplish-green, extending into a single darker purple lip. Fruit a capsule up to 5 cm, oblong-cylindric, 6-ribbed, splitting into 6 segments while remaining on the plant, forming a "hanging basket". |
