Description:
Perennial herb with annual stems growing from large underground tubers. Milky latex present. Leaves opposite, narrowly linear. Flowers in terminal umbels. Corolla saucer-shaped, cream, greenish or yellow, more or less densely mottled with maroon to purple; lobes recurved at the apex. Corona raised, yellow.

Notes:
Derivation of specific name: carsonii: named after Alexander Carson (1850-1896), British engineer and avid plant collector in Zambia.
Habitat: Rocky areas of Brachystegia woodland.
Altitude range: 1200 - 2250 m
Flowering time:Oct - Feb
Worldwide distribution: Angola, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique Zambia and Zimbabwe.
