Description:
Erect, procumbent or scrambling annual herb. Stems up to 50 cm long, usually with a single band of silky hairs. Leaves linear-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic or ovate, 5-14 cm long, more or less roughly hairy, particularly on the midrib below; margin entire, rolled under. Flowers solitary, sessile or on short lateral branchlets up to 7 cm long with reduced leaves at the base. Bracts greenish to straw-coloured with purple bands and blotches, hairless, leathery and glossy, ovate to elliptic, acuminate; margin entire without spines or bristles. Corolla white to cream or pale blue or mauve, 4-29 mm long, often hidden among the bracts; lip oblong-elliptic, narrowing towards the apex, central lobe longest, ciliate or hairy.
