Description:
Prostrate annual producing numerous slender stems radiating up to 40 cm long, appressed puberulous to finely spreading pubescent or glabrescent; leaves 3-foliolate, uppermost reduced and sometimes 1-foliolate; leaflets 5-13 x 3-11 mm, obovate to obovate-circular, rarely oblanceolate, appressed puberulous to finely pubescent beneath, rarely also above, pedicels 1-5 mm long; racemes 1-3 cm long, subumbelliform, 6-many flowered; bracts 1.5-3.5 mm long, linear to linear-spathulate, pedicel 2-3 mm long; calyx 2.5-4 mm long, densely pubecent, upper lobes triangular acuminate, 1.2-2 times as long as tube; standard obovate, yellow, ± densely pubescent on the upper half outside; wings a little shorter than the keel; keel 5-6 mm long, angular with a narrow twisted beak; pod sessile, 3-4 x 2.5-3 mm long, ovoid-globose, appressed pubesccent, 2-seeded; seeds 1.5-2 mm long, broadly cordiform, smooth.

Derivation of specific name: baumii : after Hugo Baum (1866-1950), German botanist and horticulturalist who participated in expeditions along the Cunene and Zambezi rivers where he made many collections.
Habitat: Woodland on Kalahari Sand, pans or disturbed places in short grassland
