Description:
Suberect, prostrate or scrambling herb 20 - 60 cm long from ± horizontal or ± globose tuber; stems pubescent with multicellular hairs and with longer red gland-tipped hairs; tendrils absent or sometimes present. Leaves digitately 3-foliolate; leaflets narrowly oblong to elliptic, 2 - 7.5 cm long, 0.7 - 1.7(2.3) cm wide, acute or subacute at the apex, cuneate or ± asymmetrically rounded in the laterals, shallowly crenate to serrate, strigose-pilose and with some gland-tipped hairs; petiole 0 - 1.5 cm long; petiolules 0 - 5 mm long; stipules lanceolate, 5 - 10 x 1.5 - 5 mm, puberulous and glandular-ciliate. Cymes axillary, 2 - 6 cm wide; axes red; peduncle 1 - 5 cm long, with similar indumentum to stems; pedicels 1.5 - 5 mm long, glabrescent or pubescent and with some gland-tipped hairs. Buds cylindrical, ± 2 mm. long, constricted near the middle, glabrous. Petals red or crimson and yellow. Fruit red, ellipsoid-globose, 6–7 mm. long, 5–6 mm. wide, with few scattered gland-tipped hairs. Seeds subglobose, 4–6 mm. in diameter, with 2 parallel crests and a few tuberculate ridges.
