Description:
Erect annual herb up to 1.2 m tall arising from a sometimes woody taproot; stems angular, greenish-yellow to reddish-brown, ± densely appressed strigose with short ± equally biramous pale hairs, reddish pearl bodies restricted to leaf axils; stipules 4-7 x 0.5-1.5 mm; leaves simple, 9-80 x 1-9 mm, linear-lanceolate, acute, sparsely bristly hairy above, densely bristly hairy below, petiole 1-2 mm; inflorescence lax to densely subcapitate panicles at ends of main branches and axils of reduced leaves, panicles sometimes more openly branched and appearing raceme-like or compound and branching with two or more capitula, peduncle 3-25 mm; calyx 3-5 mm long, lobes linear-lanceolate, attenuate 4-10 times as long as 0.5-1 mm long tube; corolla 5-6 mm long, orange to orange-pink; back of standard spreading hispid, wings glabrous, keel densely reddish-brown hairy beneath; pods 3-5 x c.2 mm, densely white, yellowish or reddish-brown hairy, 2-seeded.
