Description:
Single-leaved monocarpic herb. Leaf broadly ovate, up to 25 × 28 cm, cordate at the base, densely but shortly hairy above, densely hairy on the veins beneath, more sparingly so in between; margin shallowly crenate. Inflorescences 1–5, many-flowered, with several flowers open simultaneously on each. Peduncles 10–20 cm long, densely hairy; hairs especially towards top often glandular. Pedicels densely glandular-hairy, 30–45 mm long. Bracts usually linear, c. 8 mm long, densely hairy. Calyx segments linear, 5–10 mm long, densely hairy, often glandular. Corolla 50–60 mm long; tube 30–40 mm long, almost straight or slightly deflexed and widened above the middle, with short spreading, often glandular hairs outside; upper lip of 2 rounded lobes 8–13 mm long, lower lip 3-lobed, 17 mm long. Capsule usually c. 80 mm long.

Derivation of specific name: wittei: named after Gaston Francois de Witte (1897-1980), Belgian-born herpetologist.
Habitat: Among rocky outcrops.
