Description:
A tree to 20 m. tall, starting as an epiphyte. Leaf lamina elliptic to oblong, often more than 10 cm., or leaf oblong to lanceolate and usually less than 10 cm. long. Fig-bearing spurs to 10(15) cm. long.
Type location:
Cameroon.
Notes: Distribution in Zambia: although most records are from the western half of the country, the species is present in the Luangwa Valley, but which subspecies is there has not yet been determined.
Derivation of specific name: macrosperma: large seed
Habitat: Mostly on termite mounds.
