Status: Native
Description:
Stem to 40 cm long, often decumbent, suckering to form dense clumps; leaves densely spotted and the lower surface with scattered prickles towards the leaf tips. Inflorescence 3‒5-branched; racemes laxly flowered. Outer perianth segments free to half way.
Type location:
Angola
Notes: The only recorded locality in Zambia is at Sioma. The general habitat is recorded as dry woodland. In the early 1990s it was found only on a boulder strewn plain below the Ngonye Falls on the Zambezi River near Sioma, but it has not been seen recently. Cultivated plants in Lusaka are known to have been collected from the Ngonye Falls, and it is likely that collectors have depleted the population.
Conservation status: Data deficient, possibly extinct in the wild in Zambia.
