Description:
Perennial herb, with erect, simple or sparsely branched, hairless stems 14–50 cm tall. Leaves held erect, linear, 1–4 cm long, finely rough on the upper surface, more or less ciliolate at the base of the midvein beneath; Leaves connected at the base by a stipular sheath 2–5 mm long, sometimes with 2 minute teeth. Inflorescences 2–5, terminal and at the upper nodes, c. 6 mm long and wide; peduncles 2–8 mm long; bracts leaf-like, 3–9. Calyx tube hairless, 1–1.2 mm long; lobes 1–1.6 mm long, with ciliolate margins. Corolla white or tinged lavender, hairless or papillate outside; tube 2–4 mm long, slightly funnel-shaped, hairy inside; lobes 2.8–3.3 mm long, lower half hairy inside. Style 2-4 mm long. Capsule 2-2.5 mm long and wide.

Notes: Listed in Phiri (2005: 86) but not cited for Zambia in Flora Zambesiaca 5-1 (Verdvourt, 1989) or Burrows & Willis (2005).
