Description:
Perennial up to 30 cm high, with long trailing stolons up to 2 m long, rooting copiously at each node and ending in an inflorescence; culm 3-angled, smooth. Leaves up to 21 cm long, spread along the flowering stem. Inflorescence capitate or simple.
Although variable the species can be identified by the presence of leaves on the flowering stem.

South Africa
Notes: Distribution in Zambia: varieties not determined.
Gordon-Gray uses the spelling ‘Pycreus mundii’ as recommended by Gunn & Codd.
Derivation of specific name: Johannes Leopold Ludwig Mund (1791-1831) botanical collector sent to the Cape to collect plants for the Prussian Army during the Napoleonic wars.
