Description of the genus

Climbers, shrubs or small trees. Stipules various; stipels 0. Leaves imparipinnate. Leaflets alternate, rarely some subopposite. Inflorescences paniculate. Calyx campanulate, shortly 5-lobed. Corolla small, white to cream, sometimes flushed purplish. Fruit indehiscent, elliptic-oblong to oblong, usually flattened.

Derivation of name: after Swedish botanist and royal physician, Nils Dalberg (1736-1820)

Worldwide: 100 species in the tropics

Zambia: 1 cultivated taxon.
