Copaifera L.

Description of the genus

Understorey shrub in Kalahari woodland; leaf with 8−10 leaflets, subopposite or alternate; fruit similar to that of Guibourtia, with green, glandular valves separating along one suture to expose the single seed enclosed in a red aril.

Worldwide: c. 30 species in Africa, 1 species in the Flora Zambesiaca region, 1 species in Zambia.
