Lindackeria C. Presl

Description of the genus

Unarmed trees or shrubs. Stipules present. Leaves: petiole sometimes elongated; lamina large, hairless or hairy, sometimes with stellate hairs; margin usually toothed. Flowers bisexual or male, borne in racemes or solitary in the upper axils. Sepals 3, concave. Petals 6-12, not much longer than the sepals. Stamens many. Ovary 1-locular with 3 parietal placentas. Fruit a tardily dehiscent capsule, globose, bristly or warty, splitting into 3 valves.

Worldwide: 14 species from Mexico to tropical South America and tropical Africa.
