Description of the genus

Annual, prostrate or spreading, pilose herbs. Leaves digitately 3-foliolate. Inflorescence a 1-5-flowered raceme. Calyx 5-lobed, the lobes subequal with upper 2 ± falcate. Standard ovate or oblong with a linear claw; keel rounded at apex. Stamens all joined into a tube; anthers 10, uniform. Pod ± oblong or linear, inflated or scarcely so.

Derivation of name: After Albrecht Wilhelm Roth (1757-1834), German botanist and physician.

Worldwide: 2 species occurring from Africa to India and Australia
