Description of the genus
Climbing herbs or subshrubs. Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate. Stipules and stipels both present; stipules and bracteoles with close parallel raised nerves. Inflorescence a few-many flowered false raceme. Calyx 5-lobed; upper 2 lobes fused to form a lip. Standard with a conspicuous spur 1-2 mm long on the outside above the claw. Pod linear, with longitudinally raised ribs on either side of each margin, dehiscent. Worldwide: 35 species in tropical and subtropical parts of America Zambia: 1 taxon. |
