Trees or shrubs, without prickles. Leaves alternate, (1-)3-foliolate. Inflorescence of axillary and terminal, racemes, panicles or clustered cymes. Flowers usually unisexual by abortion, 4(-5)-merous. Sepals united to form a 4-5-lobed cup-shaped calyx. Male flowers: stamens 4-5. Female flowers: ovary 1-locular. Fruit drupaceous, 1-seeded. Worldwide: 30 species in tropical Africa and Madagascar Zambia: 4 taxa. |
