Location (short): Situated in the dry South-west of the Country.

Location (detailed): National Park No. I6, 5270 sq km. Situated in Shangombo and Sesheke Districts. Its southernmost boundary is the international border with Namibia and the Mashi River (also known as the Kwando) lies along the park's south-western boundary. (It should be noted though that the international border with Angola is delineated by the edge of the floodplain on the Zambian side and not the river.)

Description

This park is the third largest of Zambia's National Parks. Much of the area is flat, very sandy and dry with the only a few isolated pools providing permanent water. The vegetation is dominated by Kalahari woodland, a degraded form of mutemwa (Zambezi Teak Baikiaea plurijuga) that has usually been opened up as a esult of burning. There are a few patches of undisturbed mutemwa, some stretches of mopane woodland and areas of grassland and thomveld where the vegetation is dominated by Acacia spp ..
