Slender woody climber to 3 m high, unarmed; young branchlets glabrous. Leaves with 2-3 pairs of pinnae; one or more of the pinnae, usually terminal, sometimes modified to a tendril; leaflets 18-25 pairs, 6-13ยท5 x 1-1.75 mm, linear to linear-oblong, rounded to subacute and mucronate at the apex, asymmetric at the base, glabrous or almost so, lateral nerves not visible beneath. Racemes axillary, solitary, always produced when the plant is leafless, often aggregated on short shoots or occupying terminal parts of shoots, 2.5 cm long (not including the 10-30 mm long peduncle), glabrous, dense-flowered. Flowers dark-purple, sessile or almost so. Calyx c. 2.5 mm long. Petals 3.5 mm long. Stamen-filaments 6-8 mm long. Pods c. 25-28 x 3-3.4 cm, flat, subcoriaceous, falcately curved, with a stipe c. 1.5-2 cm long. Seeds c. 10 x 6.5 mm |
