Plants 23–70 cm high. Roots thick, cylindrical, without tubers. Rosette leaves reduced to 1–3 glabrous cataphylls. Peduncle terete, glabrous, multibracteate; sterile bracts leafy, 6–13 per plant, lanceolate, acute, clasping below, glabrous. Inflorescence a panicle of 1–4 racemes; rachis terete, glabrous; floral bracts narrowly lanceolate, lower ones up to 12 mm long. Pedicels articulated above middle, lower ones 2–4 per node, to 15 mm long in fruit. Perianth greenish; tepals c.6.5 mm long, reflexed, 3-veined. Stamens 5.5 mm long; filaments terete, much longer than anthers. Ovary sessile; style c.6 mm long. Capsule shallowly lobed. Seeds not seen. |
