Description:
Rizome creeping, up to 6 mm in diameter; rhizome scales lanceolate, ferrugineous, concolorous, aciminate, up to 3.5 × 0.7 mm. Fronds tufted, simple, firmly membranous. Stipe up to 10 cm long, pale brown, densely set with pale reddish-brown ovate scales. Sterile lamina up to 12 × 1.7 cm, very narrowly elliptic, apex tapering to a point, base tapered, margins usually recurved, both surfaces with ciliate ovate to oblong scales up to 0.8 mm long. Fertile lamina linear with a tapering base.
Type location:
Notes: Kornas, J. (1979): Occurence in Zambia seems to be based on an herbarium specimen (Richards 14969, K). This record belongs to E. spathulatum subsp. salicifolium, and has been correctly identified by Schelpe himself (in herbario), but erroneously cited later under E. welwitschii.
