Herb, stems up to 60 cm. tall, erect or ascending. Rhizomes tuberous. Leaves spirally arranged, margin denticulate to coarsely crenate, sometimes repand. Inflorescences solitary or paired; flowering face narrowly ovate to linear.

Notes: Widespread, not threatened.

Habitat: Miombo woodland and thicket.
Altitude range: Up to 1500 m
Flowering time:Dec - Jan
Worldwide distribution: Angola, Cameroon, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
