Description:	Scrambling shrub, small tree or true liane, 1.5-7.5 m. tall. Bark smooth. Leaves narrowly oblong to oblanceolate or elliptic, 4.5-10 cm long, shiny yellowish-green and glabrous above, bluish-green and sparsely pubescent below, thinly textured, apex rounded, often notched; margin wavy. Flowers solitary or in 2-4-flowered clusters, axillary, lemon-yellow Fruit a cluster of up to 10 cylindric or ovoid carpels, up to 1 cm long, orange-red when ripe.

Derivation of specific name:	buchananii: after John Buchanan (1855 – 1896), Scottish horticulturist, missionary, farmer and plant collector in Malawi, who became Acting British Consul to Central Africa. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Buchanan_(settler).
