Description: |
Small to medium-sized tree, evergreen or deciduous. Young branchlets often with spines, occasionally blunt thorns are still present on older branches. Leaves elliptic to obovate, glossy dark green, paler below; young leaves often purplish. Flowers unisexual on the same tree, very small, yellow-green, in axillary clusters. Fruit an ellipsoid berry, blackish when ripe, edible and sweet. |
