Description:
A scrambling shrub or a true liane. Bark greyish and flaking, revealing a reddish-brown layer underneath. Leaves opposite, elliptic to ovate, glossy dark green above, sparsely to densely hairy below. Stipules long and needle-like. Flowers in almost round terminal clusters, white or cream. The style is distinctly exserted. Fruits yellow to red, spherical, crowned with the persistent calyx lobes. Compare with Rutidea orientalis.
