Description:
Perennial herb, growing up to 1.5 m tall but usually much smaller. The leaves and stems contain a milky latex. The flower heads consist of ligulate florets only and are white to pale blue or mauve, rarely yellow.

Derivation of specific name: inermis : unarmed, without spines
Habitat: In grassland, particularly in disturbed places.
