Tree c. 15-20 m high. Inflorescences on peduncles 2-4.5 cm long. Pods indehiscent or breaking transversely at irregular intervals, c. 10-18 x 1.6 – 2 cm., straight or slightly twisted, mostly straight-margined. |

Notes: | The only Zambian record of Samanea leptophylla is a flowering specimen by Andrew Angus in September 1952, one of many species known from a single collection from the Zambezi source area (Ikelenge). Apparently widespread in Guineo-congolian extending into Katanga and the NW tip of Zambia. |
