Woody suffrutex up to 1.5 m tall. Stems terete, longitudinally ridged, brown, densely pubescent, velutinous or tomentose with greyish hairs, juvenile growth yellowish to ferrugineous-tomentose, glabrescent on older wood. Stipules 3-11 x up to 1 mm, lanceolate, or subulate-setaceous, erect or spreading. Leaves pinnately 3-7-foliolate; leaf axis 3-12 cm long, including petiole 15-50 mm long, extended 10-22 mm beyond lateral leaflets; terminal leaflet 30-100 x 22-55 mm, broadly obovate; laterals often narrower, oblong-elliptic; leaflets glabrous or very sparsely strigillose above, densely pilose to grey-white tomentose beneath. Racemes 4-25 cm long including peduncle 5-42 mm long, densely 20-70-flowered; bracts 1-7 mm long, lanceolate-attenuate or subulate, roughly erect. Calyx 1.5-3 mm long, strongly oblique, longer on lower side, densely pilose or white tomentose; lobes triangular, shorter than tube. Corolla 10-12 mm long, back of standard ferrugineous-tomentose, hairs often darker brown towards apex. Stamens 9-11 mm long. Style 2.5-4 mm long, curving erect from style base, becoming conspicuously enlarged and club-shaped at apex of developing pod. Pod 50-75 x 3-4 mm, cylindrical, sharply upturned at apex, densely pubescent or tomentose, hairs grey-white or ferrugineous. Seeds 8-15, 2-2.8 x c. 2 mm, oblong to globose, dark brown. |
