Involucres 9–12 x 9–15 mm, obconic, phyllaries diverging in mature heads, densely white sericeous-lanate. Phyllaries numerous, obscurely longitudinally ribbed, densely white sericeous, long ciliate on the margins, from c. 3 mm long and subulate outside, longer and linear-lanceolate towards the inside, gradually tapering to a finely pointed purple apex. Corollas creamy-white to pale-pink, 7–9 mm long. Achenes 1.8–2.3 mm long, narrowly angular-turbinate, 4–5-ribbed, setulose on the ribs, gland-pitted and rugulose on the faces.
