Description:
Perennial herb up to 50 cm high with several ascending stems growing from a woody rootstock. Stems quadrangular, often purplish, with retrorse hairs and spreading glandular hairs,sometimes also with orange to red sessile glands. Leaves spreading to ascending, broadly ovate triangular, upto 4 cm long, often broadly cordate at the base, indumentum as for the stems; margin often deeply crenate-dentate; petiole 8-35 mm long. Inflorescence fairly lax, tending to be one-sided. Calyx 2-3 mm long, purplish, hairy and with sessile glands. Corolla 11-13 mm long, purple sparsely hairy and with red sessile glands; lower lip deeply boat-shaped, hiding the stamens, densely hairy with purple hairs,frilled at the apex.

Notes:
Derivation of specific name: selukwensis: of Selukwe (now Shurugwi) in Zimbabwe, where the type was collected.
Habitat: Amongst granite rocks.
Altitude range: 1200 - 1700 m
