Perennial herb, 13-60 cm tall with thick horizontal rhizome, roots rigid, stems many. Leaves cinnamon coloured with sheaths short and acute, the mouth with many long multicellulate hairs up to 2 cm long, often forming tangled woolly masses. Inflorescence pale to dark brown, capitate, mostly with long white hairs at the base but sometimes glabrous; spikelets 2-5 sessile. |
