Description:
Much-branched shrub,mostly up to 2 m tall; branches densely hairy when young. Leaves clustered and crowded on short lateral shoots, linear,up to 5 mm long,often recurved, densely woolly above, hairy to almost hairless beneath;margin curled under. Capitula clustered, sessile towards the ends of branches in the leaf axils, numerous,forming simple or compound spike-like inflorescences. Florets only one per capitulum, c. 2,5 mm long, purplish. Pappus of c. 10-12 plumose setae c. 1.8 mm long.

Notes:
Derivation of specific name: kilimandscharica of Mt Kilimanjaro where the type was collected.
Habitat: In ericoid scrub at margins of grassland and forest.
