Perennial herb up to 110 cm tall growing from a globose to napiform tuber; stems solitary, simple or branched, slender, pubescent; leaves opposite and paired, 1-6 x 0.05-0.2 cm, linear with the margins strongly revolute, pubescent on upper surface; inflorescences sessile, 2-10 flowered at each of the upper nodes; calyx lobes c. 1.5 x 0.2-0.5 mm, lanceolate or narrowly ovate, acute, pilose; corolla spreading to campanulate, divided almost to base, white or greenish, sometimes flushed pink or purple, lobes 2-4 x 1 mm, ovate, subacute, pilose on the outer surface and glabrous on inner face, often with stout white hairs at apex; corona lobes of type B; follicles 3-6 cm long, narrowly fusiform but with a pronounced beak, pubescent, held erect. |
