Flowers bisexual and male, those of the upper cincinnus apparently all male; upper sepal tinged with reddish purple, 4.5–6 mm long, paired sepals tinged with reddish purple, essentially free, 4.5–7 mm long; paired petals usually white, occasionally pink (rarely blue?), 9–14 × 8–10 mm of which the proximally reddish purple claw 4.5–5 mm long; lower petal elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 4.5–8 mm long, concolorous with the paired petals; staminodes 3; lateral stamens with filaments ± 10 mm long, anthers (1.2–)1.6–2.2 mm long, medial stamen with filament 7–9 mm long, anther (1.8–)2–3.2 mm long. Ovary ± 1.5 mm long; style ± 12–13 mm long. Capsules bi- to trilocular, bivalved, 8–9 mm long, rostrate, up to 5-seeded, dorsal locule 1-seeded to abortive, indehiscent, ventral locules 1–2-seeded, the basal ovules sometimes aborting. Ventral locule seeds strongly dorsiventrally compressed, ± reniform to deltate, 2.5–3.5 × 1.9–2 mm, testa blackish, foveolate or foveolate-reticulate. |
