Tufted perennial from a short knotty rhizome. Culms 30–100 cm. high. Panicle 2–10 cm. long, cylindrical, dense or sometimes interrupted. Spikelets 3–4 mm. long, elliptic, silky pillose all over. Superior glume herbaceous to papyraceous. Inferior lemma bearing a transverse fringe of long hairs across the back. |
