Description:	Densely tufted annual 0.15-1m tall with reddish roots. Leaves plicate, 2-6 mm wide, glabrous or more rarely shortly hairy. Inflorescence of lateral panicles borne singly at the nodes on short erect peduncles. Var.:Nutlets grey, globose, 2.7-3 mm long, 2.3-2.5 mm wide, glabrous or shortly hairy. deeply lacunose-tessellate.
