Terrestrial herb 25-40 cm tall growing from woolly ovoid to ellipsoid tubers c. 3-4 x 1-2 cm; stems leafy; leaves 5-10, lowermost spreading, 2.5-3 x 2 cm, ovate, mid-stem leaves suberect, up to 6 x 2.5 cm, lanceolate, uppermost leaves grading into bracts; inflorescence 8-13 x 5-6 cm, laxly 4-7 flowered; bracts 10-30 mm long, lanceolate, reaching half the length of the ovary; flowers green; pedicel and ovary 15-30 mm long, straight; dorsal sepal erect, 12-15 x 15 mm, ovate, convex, projecting over column and with the tip recurved; lateral sepals projecting forward, c. 13 x 4 mm, obliquely lanceolate, adnate to column and base of spur; petals erect, 2-lobed with an undivided basal part of 5-7 mm; upper lobe 13-15 x 2-3 mm, lanceolate, margins ciliate, adnate to dorsal sepal; lower petal lobes 18-22 x 1 mm, linear, horn-shaped above the dorsal sepal; lip-3-lobed with an undivided basal part c. 5 mm long; mid-lobe 7-10 x 1 mm, linear, reflexed; side lobes curving forwards, 15-20 x 1 mm, linear; spur c. 20 mm long, pendent, slightly recurved and swollen at the apex. |
