LONCHOCARPUS Kunth
Trees or shrubs. Leaves imparipinnate with 1 (and thus appearing simple) - 15 subopposite leaflets; stipels present at base of leaflet; terminal leaflet sometimes larger than the others. Inflorescence an irregular panicle of numerous flowers. Calyx campanulate with 5 short teeth, the upper pair of which are ± completely united. Corolla white, pink or purplish. Vexillary stamen partially connate with the other 9. Pod flattened, indehiscent, sometimes winged. Worldwide: 12 species in tropical and South Africa; Madagascar Zambia: 6 taxa.
